My Story
In 2008, I made the decision to go back to school to pursue my dreams of being a designer. Four years later, I graduated with my second degree and ventured out to New York City, full of hope and optimism for opportunities. I envisioned myself working for a renowned design firm, ready to tackle any challenges head on, overcoming them with envious results.
That did not happen accordingly.
My design life did not track on a fairy tale timeline. For the first few years of my design life, most of my work came in the form of project based hires and short-term contracts. Half of that work were design-adjacent. I had to scrap for a taste of working in the real world of design, but even though the early years were tough, I also quickly realized that my passion for design was not just a phase, but a real sense of a career.
I was fortunate to finally land my first design role a few years later at a small lifestyle brand, Nooka. From there on, I jumped around to a couple different brands, but ultimately, made the decision to move back to San Francisco when an opportunity presented itself with Speck Products.
I am now almost a decade into my design career, and my enthusiasm for design is still flying high. As I look back at my decision in 2008, I am proud that I chased my dreams, because to this day, I am still able to create and build. I am thankful to have a platform that allows me to showcase my love of design, and I plan to continue building on this career with more meaningful products that I can share with the world.
